Wooow. This was an almost perfect sequel, like for real. I loved it, I swear I did, but the absence of the romance of the first book just killed me, that's why I decided not to give the last star to this one. I had to struggle a little bit at the beginning but it’s totally worth it for the rest of the book. It was just amazing how the story is developed in this sequel.
On one hand, we can feel Karou's maturity and Akiva's guilt like never before. She feels responsible for the war and for the chimeras' survival.
On the other hand, we have Suzanne and Mick trying to find Karou to help her. Those were the best and the funniest parts of the book. I couldn't help laughing out loud all the time reading their conversations and journey.
I already want to read the final book of this amazing and exciting trilogy!

This book was frustrating. I wish
Karou fought back more. Or ran away, especially at all the ill intentions and lies of Thiago. I’m glad he and Ten and truly dead tho graaaaa. I hope Ziri can keep up the deception!!! And lead true!!!

It took me a while to get into this book. I had a hard time with the time differences between the first and this one. There had been a substantial amount of time between my readings which made he transition even more difficult. However, once I got everyone sorted again, and the passage of time started to shift into place, the book was fantastic. There are several brilliant twists and the character development is spot on. Will jump into the third quickly.

Days of Blood and Starlight is an excellent second installment in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I couldn’t put the book down! The book picks up after being left on a cliffhanger in the last one and for awhile you’re still figuring out what is currently happening. But along the way it’s more world building and seeing what is going on from different characters in the book. I love the insertion of minor characters with their perspective of being seraphim versus chimera during the current ongoing war. There was so much going on but I never felt overwhelmed. Things were spaced out and easy to follow along even with the introduction of new characters and history of the world. From the middle of the book towards the end each chapter was a cliffhanger! Then the following chapter took you somewhere else so you just HAD to keep reading to see how everything was going to turn out! But I loved this style of writing! Although there were a lot of sad and suspenseful parts of the story I loved that the author still put in scenes that were light hearted and filled with joy. Based on the ending I can tell the characters are preparing for something big and I’m ready to see what happens!
