Oh boy... One more triology finished.
Okay, so. I REALLY liked this triology, it is one of my favorites!
This last book was so surprising and shocking that my mouth's still open. But now everything makes sense! Lucy and Paul were so speachless and shocked when they first saw Gwen because she was their daughter and they had never seen her. Of course! But I felt bad for Gwen when she found out. It happened the worst way.
One of the things I liked the most about this book was the evolution of Gwen and Gideon's relationship. Thank God he ended that stupid lie - only because he thought she had died, but still. They loved each other so much and they were so lovely. Damn! And he was always there for her when she needed.
I still can't believe Mr. Whitman was actually Count Saint-German. I mean, WHAT THE HELL??? When they first started talking about the possibility of the count still being alive, I was very confuse. It didn't make much sense to me. Anyway, at first I thought it was Mr. George, because of all that talk about the most unexpected person and blah blah blah. But then I thought 'no way, he was Lucas' friend', and of course it wasn't him. To be honest, Mr. Whitman was the second person who crossed my mind and it looks like I was right this time. It also makes sense, because sometimes he was very abrupt and sarcastic and he didn't seem to like Gwen very much. When that son of a bitch shot Gideon, I was just beginning to cry when he resurrected. I was like 'what the hell just happened here?'. And then we're told he's immortal because Lucy and Paul made him took the elixir. Oh, thank God. I wasn't ready for his death.
What Gwen did for James was very sweet. She really saved his life and he would be forever thankful to her if he knew. Then again, Gideon was very sweet to help her with such a crazy thing.
I was disappointed with some things, though. I was hoping Grace and Falk would stay together at the end, even though he was a bit stupid and arrogant sometimes. They were like teenagers when they were together and that was kinda sweet. I was also hoping Lesley and Raphael to stay together. I guess he liked her for real. That thing about Gwen being immortal, and then Gideon as well, didn't convince me. I mean, wasn't it enough they could travel back in time, they would also have to live forever and watch all of their loved one's death? It would have been better if they had found an elixir to undo that or something. I was also expecting that in the end they would find a way for Lucy and Paul to travel back to the future and have a normal life so that they could be parents for Gwen - I'm not saying she would live with them, because Grace was her mother, but it would have been nice. To finish, the other thing I didn't like was that we never knew what happened with the Guardians, what they said when they found out the truth, what they did, if they forgave Lucy and Paul...
Well, despite all the things I didn't like, I still loved the book and I'm very, very happy Gwen and Gideon ended up together.

A good finale for the series. I still got confused at times, again probably because of the translation from German to English. It ended a lot quicker than I thought it would and I still didn't like how much focus was put on the relationship between Gwen and Gideon. Overall entertaining and fun, but not the best book ever. At parts it was predictable and sometimes cheesy, but the main focus of this series I feel is entertainment and I think it did that very well, at least for a female audience.

Tja nun.
Die Edelstein-Trilogie ist nicht gut gealtert.
Auch 2009 hätten eigentlich Botschaften wie „Frauenhass ist cool“, „toxische Beziehungen rocken“ und „wenn du noch keinen Sex hattest, bist du ein Loser“ nicht in ein Jugendbuch aufgenommen werden dürfen, aber nun.
Hier sind wir.
Ist die Story gut? Halbwegs. Sie könnte es sein, wenn ich mich nicht die ganze Zeit so darüber aufgeregt hätte, was jungen Menschen dort impliziert wird.
Ist sie wenigstens unterhaltsam? Manchmal. Aber das macht es noch lange nicht zu einem guten Buch.
Besonders auf den letzten Seiten wirkt alles so wahnsinnig gehetzt und zusammen gestaucht, dass ich mich frage, wieso man in Saphirblau gefühlt überhaupt gar nicht in der Story geprogressed hat. Dafür die letzten Seiten des ohnehin schon doppelt so dicken Buches so vollzuquetschen mit allem, dass der Spannungsbogen gänzlich in sich zusammenfällt, ist einfach nur ärgerlich.
Ich würde mir wünschen, dass Autoren und andere Schaffende ihre Plattform nutzen, um junge Menschen zu stärken, ihnen vermitteln, dass Grenzen setzen und für sich einstehen nicht nur notwendig, sondern rechtens ist.
Und dass wir ihnen zeigen, wie Liebe funktioniert.
Jeder junge Mensch, der dieses Buch gelesen hat, bekommt den Eindruck vermittelt, dass sie ihre wahre, unsterbliche Liebe nur finden, wenn sie alles über sich ergehen lassen.
Mir bleibt nicht viel zu sagen, außer dass Frau Gier besser sein muss. Wir alle müssen das.
Seid nicht wie Gwen, habt Ecken und Kanten.
