What a cute manga! Loved it, I will definitely read the other books in the series.
Themes: homosexuality in Japan, prejudices, tolerance, family, etc.
I like how the different characters evolve, how Tagame mixes awkwardness with humor. It's been on my tbr list for a while, so happy to have read it.

The art style was wonderful. I liked learning about how another country and culture handles LGBT people. I'll have to get a copy of the second volume.

I think this is a great book. I love the fact that it looks at the differences for Queer people of Japan and some Western cultures (Canada). Also I like how it addresses the changing viewpoint of Yaichi. Very good!

It was cute, it was fun, though I would’ve appreciated a little more depth and backstory reveal.

This was such a lovely story! As someone who didn't have a great coming-out story with their family (who have the same mindset as Yaichi), this was an incredibly healing story that isn't too heavy. I flew through this manga and loved every single character. Watching and reading Yaichi's mindset slowly change throughout the story, both towards Mike and his brother, was very sweet. Not only that, but Kana? I loved being able to see how Yaichi reacted to what he thought would be a difficult topic to navigate with his young daughter. But this manga goes to show that children are pretty accepting of a lot of things that adults have a harder time adapting to (since children don't have the same years-long beliefs instilled in them). Kana was the perfect bridge between Yaichi and Mike, as well as the perfect eye-opener to Yaichi vs his beliefs. I immediately bought the second volume, but I'm sad that this isn't a longer series.

I think the target audience is heterosexual people who are trying to be open minded? Heavy emphasis on trying. As a queer person, I was repulsed by the main character and his inner thoughts, even though I'm sure I've been surrounded by people thinking similar things many times... I guess I'm not a fan of being reminded how some people can seem or act tolerant, but really aren't okay with what's outside the norm.

The little girl, Kana, is adorable. She is a typical child in how she approaches everything, and therefore her logic slowly supersedes the main character's thought processes. Children are wonderful (usually) and we should learn from them.
