Though this story is a bit too tidy - it takes just a few days with a stranger to evaluate a lifetime of homophobia that caused a rift in your family? - the illustrations were so lovely and expressive that they made the whole thing work. Mike is a sensitive and delightful character, maybe even enough to bring about the change we want to see in Yaichi.

I love the gentle nature of this volume while still dealing with tough issues. I love how quickly Kana accepts Mike and how we get to see the world through her kindness as the adults dance around the topics.

I’m not typically a manga reader, but liked NPR’s recommendation for this in their massive year-end book review and decided to check it out. This was a really great slice of life story and I totally want to read Volume 2 when it’s released.

Un buen inicio. El dibujo se me hacía conocido de La Casa de los Herejes y de repente me voy enterando que son del mismo autor, y se comprueba con su gran dibujo de la anatomía masculina. 
La historia es simple, bonita, creo que podría ser ayuda para muchas personas a entender a la comunidad gay como algo más serio a lo estereotípico. Tenemos duelo y las diferencias del cómo lidiar con ello. 
La curiosidad de Kana es excelente método para explorar temas que pueden ser tabúes para diferentes personas. 
Me impactó bastante el aparecimiento de la mamá al final del volumen, yo creí que estaba muerta, pero okay, ya veremos qué sucede.
