loved it but i wish this version of the movement was more openly inclusive to many types of people, especially people deemed genuine outcasts and weird (not just white men and a few women) if you’re going to promote something most people find offensive, go all the way and include every transsexual you can find, etc, otherwise how unique and anarchic are you really?

I really struggled with my brain capacity, but I let it wash over me. A manifesto, even if he ended up taking like three or more attempts in the end, can never truly capture the scope and spirit of something like surrealism. But Breton does he's thing, so good on him.

The last paragraph that everyone posts is am absolute banger!

Okay, "read" is a strong way to put this. Read the first two manifestos and part of Soluble Fish, with the intention to return to it. Onto The Metamorphosis!

An interesting book on the origins of surrealism and the evolution of the movement. Breton being overly full of himself does get a bit annoying at times, though.

I enjoy Surrealist paintings and this book explains the values and aims of Surrealism in detail. Breton's writing style is really good and even though Surrealism is a very difficult thing to grasp, some things make more sense after reading this. However, I got bored from time to time because it is very tiring to read and it is long in general. This book allows you to enjoy Surrealist paintings and texts more than before.
