Reasonable but doesn't hold a candle to American Gods. The fantastical elements were deftly handled and almost lyrical but the impact was just much, much less.

I did not like it quite as much as American Gods, but it ended very well

I adored Anansi Boy's! It brings you to something else. I have never heard of a book like this but I am one of the few who read this book before American Gods. I plan to read that book next. I have read Stardust by Neil Gaiman and was excited to read this book. The ending was perfect and as always, Mr. Gaiman did a great job!

Ine of my favorites that I have read so far from Gaiman. Magical, twisted, humorous & as always quiet relatable. Full of characters that you love and those you hate.

Anansi, god of stories, seems to have a special place in Gaiman’s heart (not terribly surprising). Stories being immortal—at least as people continue to love them and pass them on—Anansi’s lease on life is perpetual. At least, so we would imagine. Meanwhile, Anansi’s only sole descendant Fat Charlie is about as far from god-hood as a person can be.

Anansi Boys is radically different from the book preceding: where A.G. is cruel, A.B. is gentle. Where A.G. is grand, A.B. is down to earth. This second book is almost unrecognizable as a sequel to American Gods, and I mean that in the best possible way. The humor is fresh, charming, and abundant. Lives are changed and lessons are learned. While it is not nearly as incisive as American Gods, Anansi Boys is a far more enjoyable novel.

Neil Gaiman is an amazing storyteller! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator really brings these characters to life, switching seamlessly between Caribbean and British accents.
