Good end to the series, although there was a lot of build up, and then everything was over and everyone was happy again...I feel like the author could have fleshed out what happened during and after the revolution a little bit more.

What a great end to the series. Claire Luana finally managed to shake off the juvenile tone of the previous books and present a fantastic ending to the series. This book was everything it needed to be!

I actually enjoyed some of the new characters in this book, despite them being introduced so late in the series. I also really enjoyed the LBGT romance - it was a great addition to the book in my opinion. As I've said in my reviews of the previous two books, I really don't care much for any of the characters in this series, but the world and the concept of the guilds is just too enticing to put these books down!

Why is it not 5 stars?
1. INSTALOVE. Are you kidding me? Instalove this late on in the series??? There is a particular romance
Spoiler(Olivia and Dash)
that didn't make sense and was very poorly included in my opinion.

2. Convenient people turning up from the past because it makes complete sense?? Everyone seems to know everyone from way back in this book, which just felt like a gimmick for plot convenience.

3. All I'm going to say is that Hale is the worst. The legit 10/10 worst.

Overall this series is entertaining and enjoyable. The concept of the guilds and Gifted is fantastic - I just wish we could have seen more of that aspect in the books. The characters are mediocre, but the plot pacing is fast enough to keep you reading.

Without a Doubt, My New Favorite Author

This book and this series kept me enthralled...no bread needed. Constant and unexpected twists. Well-written characters. Intricately woven detail tying all four works in the series together into one glorious masterpiece. I truly hope there are future titles in this universe, though this arc is clearly well concluded.

Final novel within this series . I am in love with these characters. The journey that these characters make, is quite phenomenal. I cried so many times, I was surprised a lot. I was on the edge of my seat this entire time. So much deception in this world, and Claire is a fantastic writer and world builder. I love the characters and I want more already. These covers are also incredibly gorgeous and I can't wait to hold them all within my hands...and stare at them on my shelves.

I would recommend this series to anyone and everyone. There is magic, mystery, intrigue, love and incredible writing. I loved everything about this series! I can't wait to re-read them all again already!

3.5 stars. A lot of filler here. That's what it felt like anyway. The plot seemed to go round and round in circles. Some clever stuff here, too, though, and an enjoyable read.

I absolutely loved this trilogy! The third, and final book did not disappoint at all. After the emotionally and physically devastating ending of the second book, the characters are left in not very good places. Wren, Lucas, Hale, Tom, Caladis, Olivia, et all, are all dealing with the aftermath in their own ways.

This world, full of magically infused food and drink, is such a unique and well constructed place, it easily draws you in. I love the use of food metaphors when describing things, it adds so much more to the perspective, and brings food and drink that more more to the forefront. And the use of food based expletives is perfect (“You scared the sugar out of me!) Everything drives home how much food plays a part in the lives of these characters. It’s their very essence.

The revolt against the new emperor is full of twists and turns. With alliances and betrayals, loyalties seemingly flip like pancakes (see, the food metaphors are contagious!). It’s a roller coaster ride of events and emotions all the way to the end. There are some very sweet relationship moments between Wren and Lucas, but especially Tom and Trick. I found myself smiling a lot whenever we got to see them together. The action is heart pounding and fast paced, and and story line likes with twist and turn, keeping you guessing.

The ending was the perfect conclusion to the story. It worked so well, and left me very satisfied with the outcome. I’m sad that the trilogy is over, but I enjoyed every minute of the ride.

The final book!

It was everything I needed it to be and a box of luck-infused confections!

When the 2nd book ended my main thought was "Oh, how are they going to fix this?" And, honestly, I spent most of this book wondering that, too. Which I really enjoyed. I like reading books that I can't just automatically guess how things will go.

The Confectioner's Truth picks up not long after The Confectioner's Coup. There is a new emperor in power and the guilds are beginning to band together, for once, against him. And then there's Hale. Oh Hale, what are we going to do with you?

A lot, apparently. Hale finds himself caught up in the midst of the new regime's efforts to gain a firmer foothold in their newly conquered country. Meanwhile Wren and the rest of the Confectioner's Guild aren't about to bow to their new leader without a fight. But are they prepared to fight to the death for their home?

The author does a great job of hurting my precious babies. In fact, there is one character we get to know in this book that is very... inventively cruel. That's all I can say without spoiling anything.

This universe is so unique I literally would pay to read a history of this world that Claire has invented, including full write-ups about all the gods and what they stand for. But, then, I am a total nerd.

All in all, this was a great conclusion to a great series.
