the book and plot are fine, but there is shockingly little character depth. on the one hand it keeps things incredibly light and fluffy and wholesome, but the plot kind of suggests something a bit grittier. this is so sweet my teeth ache. the cover and description really don't do a good job of telling the reader what to expect. I'm actually kind of let down . though maybe if I didn't have any expectations I would like this more.

This was a fun read. Despite the topics at hand in it, it was pretty light. Some of the writing felt a little lacking at times but I enjoyed it over all.

there’s a way to write tropey wattpad-esque romance novels and still make them a 5 star read, but unfortunately this book didn’t quite do that for me. i just couldn’t get into it. the characters were so flat and unrealistic that i didn’t connect to them or care about them. the actual plot was very basic, and the characters got repetitive after a while. i did love the concept and enjoyed the first half, but by the end i was skimming because every interaction between toby and dex felt like the same thing recycled over again
