I really liked this one! I gave it 4 stars, generally, but if I'm rating it just compared to other twisty/thriller/crime/mystery type books I think it's a 5 star book for me. The twists were fun, and actually surprising, and not eye rolling or unbelievable. I mean, not that I believe in time travel, but I'm used to and enjoy books with magical elements.
I also enjoyed the themes of motherhood, regrets, what-could-have-been type thinking, identity, questions about what it is to be "good" and people's relationship to lying and treating each other well. Too many thriller type books are just annoyingly shallow in a way this one wasn't.

3.5 stars rounding up to 4. This was a really creative and fun read! I loved the main concept, and thought the execution was done well. It kept me guessing until the last few pages, although I don't typically read many thrillers. I appreciated that most characters seemed to have coherent motivations, and I enjoyed learning about their lives throughout the book. My only gripe is
Spoiler
that it seems unlikely Jen would not have noticed ANY clues that her husband was previously involved in a life of crime, through 20 years of marriage. Since the twists depended on this, it made it seem like Jen just wasn't very observant, for being a lawyer.Spoiler
But this is a relatively small issue.

Such an unexpected read! I downloaded this for a road trip without doing any research, and I was immediately hooked. If you like psychological thrillers with some time travel flair, check this out. It IS a lot of detail and it can be wordy (I saw lots of people comment on that in the reviews), but I think the author crafted a very complex, multi-faceted story and manages to do it beautifully. Loved all the twists and turns, too - I usually guess them ahead of time but there were surprises around every corner!
