I read this book without reading the description. I dove in completely blind, without a single clue of what I was getting myself into. I chose this book because I loved Famous Last Words and wanted to read more from the author. I was very pleasantly surprised! I was not expecting a murder mystery involving time travel. The end definitely surprised me! I was not expecting the plot twist. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Gillian McAllister

I had trouble getting into this one. I was intrigued by the concept initially but kind of lost interest halfway through

A solid time-loop (ish) mystery/thriller. Probably more mystery than thriller.
A big focus on love for your children and your family (not super interesting to my childless-self but it was there and fit the story well).
I figured out most of the reveals just before they happened, which I always think is the most satisfying. But I guess that does mean it wasn't mind-blowing. Just satisfying and solid :)

A really interesting book about a mother's love and how well you really know anyone.

This was such a fun story had me guessing for a good portion of it. I also loved the ending & the way the author wrapped up everyone character in the best way!
Wow. This book was amazing! I listened on audio book, and I think that pace was really beneficial (some other reviews I read mention the length and # of twists seemed drawn out, but listening to the book might've helped me in that sense)
While the beginning took me a couple chapters to get into (I almost felt cringey at the concept maybe?) as the story continues further in time, everything just delves so much deeper than I imagined. I cannot say enough about this - without giving spoilers, but the number of twists and turns, so artfully woven is amazing. You think you know what has happened, or who is a fault by 1/2 way through and wonder why there are so many chapters left. Then by 3/4 of the way, you're sure-sure you know what's going on, until there's another crazy twist. I ended up only being correct in guessing 1 of the character's true origins lol.
I also love how there is a subtle mirror-imaging of the storylines, one going backward and the other forward. There's so many points where you have this realization dawn on you - but done so well. It is beautiful to see the Kelley & Jen's marriage - throughout each season, and the love and joy they have and how each layer is peeled back. And Jen's love for Todd, her insecurities in motherhood, but the overwhelming reality of one's love for their child despite any mistake or flaw they've made. While also uncovering that the greatest gift is the time spent with one-another: not a career, or what one's life looks to the neighbors. I feel like I've learned a life lesson through this story!
I typically feel cringed or uncomfortable when reading stories that involve alot of secrecy or lies between spouses / family, but the format of Jen uncovering things as they go, I didn't end up feeling that way at all.
It's so fun to think back to the limited knowledge at the beginning of the story, and know how everything pieces together and is explained, with really very few plot holes. Such a well thought out story from front to back.... or back to front :)
Spectacular!
