Incredible. I truly had no idea where this book would take me, but it’s written in such an incredibly tense way that I knew it would be intense no matter the outcome.

Nope. Don't read it. You can see where it's going a mile away and the atmospheric drama was meh at best. This is not a ghost story, a gothic or psychological thriller. This is a story of 3 people stuck together making horrible decisions and never really getting to the pay off of why.

You would think I'd have learned my lesson by now but apparently I needed another reminder: books that claim they are as good as "Rebecca" are lying.

Beautifully written, too dark & tragic for my tastes.

DID NOT FINISH

Bitter Orange was the slowest slow burn ever. While the wiring was atmospheric and beautiful, the pace was too slow for me. I didn't connect with or care about any of the characters.

In my boredom, I looked up spoilers, which convinced me to cut my losses. There is a twist and two crimes that left me feeling "meh". Who cares?

The twist regarding Frances' mother was good, but it's not written in an obvious way. I had to reread it to be certain I understood what had happened.

Again, the writing is beautiful, but the pacing is glacial and the characters are annoying and somewhat dull, despite the drama and bluster.

Beautiful writing

34% done. I am not enjoying this. Don't care about the 3 main characters AT ALL. Very very slow to unfold the plot. Bye bye book

this was a very well written book and while it was quite interesting and kept my attention, the only word i would use to describe frances was insufferable. i genuinely could not STAND her and cara and peter were not much better.

White trash, waste of my time
