I really enjoyed this book. I loved the twists and the reveals and the whole time, it felt like Fuller was in control of the story. The writing and pacing were both excellent. If you generally read literary fiction, are in the mood for a thriller but have a hard time with the usual chart-topping thrillers, I recommend this to you. I especially enjoyed discussing this with the Fiction Matters crew.

This book surprised me by how much I enjoyed it. A little slow to start but then it became almost unputdownable (yeah, that’s a word in Ellen’s world). Recommend this one.

Finally, a unique main character.
An interesting read about what alienation does to people.
I liked the abandoned house, but because I am a scaredy-cat, the creepy parts gave me a few sleepless nights. All in all, I feel like there was a lot of good material, but it wasn't weaved together thoroughly enough. I would have loved to read a bit more about Frances' feelings toward her mother and father, as for the severity of her actions I found her inner life a bit too shallow. Also would have enjoyed much more involvement of voyerism, as the synopsis suggested this would be one of the main motifs. I would have liked to understand what exactly was wrong with Cara and what was so special about Peter.
