Wow! This was quite the roller coaster read, especially the last 3 chapters šŸ™Š  I like the sexual tension between the characters in this book better than The Love Hypothesis. Though it's still unrealistic, it is more realistic and steamy than that of The Love Hypothesis. I found Bee annoying with her constant overthinking and self-doubt, but then start to relate to some of her insecurities šŸ˜³ especially with being scared and running away first.

I donā€™t know how to feel about this. I went into the Love Hypothesis with skewed views about its contents so I decided to read this with an open mind.
The beginning of this was really boring and I was really confused for about 10 chapters and not even about the science stuff. I felt like the ā€œenemiesā€ thing didnā€™t really make any sense and I also felt like Bee kept trying to force her wrong opinion down my throat. However I thought that it was sweet that he fell first and I felt so bad for him that she remained convinced that he hated her despite him explicitly saying on multiple different occasions that he didnā€™t. Her obtuseness really frustrated me a lot while reading.
I also thought the gun thing was doing a bit too much. It really wasnā€™t necessary. And the ending and makeup seemed very rushed.
Despite spending most of this book confused it was a nice read.

I think I have to agree with a lot of other reviewers. This has too many similarities to the author's first novel, The Love Hypothesis. I appreciate her writing about women in STEM, but unfortunately, the main character in this book doesn't seem like a strong, independent woman anywhere but the lab. There were still enough plot differences to make for a fun read, though comparatively speaking, the differences in characters and their backstories, overall plot, and elements of romance and mystery seemed underdeveloped and made this less interesting

Ah, I really needed a romance read! Was it revolutionary? No. But it was entertaining as hell! I gotta love anyone that loves Marie Curie, aka one of my middle-school heroines, this much. And all the kitties!!

CW: 1 HP reference, sexual content, sexism, previous death of parents, past infidelity, toxic relationship, gun violence, medical content (seizures), discussions around death and grief
