When society collapses, Stan and Charmaine are forced to live in their car and fend off gangs. They believe their lives are saved when they are accepted into the Positron Project in the town of Consilience where no one is unemployed and everyone gets a home. Alternating months that home is a prison where they serve as inmates. All, of course, is not what it seems and soon their relationship and their lives are put in danger. Atwood has compiled her previously published Positron stories into a complete novel. That may explain a couple of the jarring transitions and an ending I found somewhat unsatisfying, but overall it's an interesting story concept with strong ideas and powerful moments.

[I received an advanced reader copy of this through Netgalley. The book is due out September 29, 2015.]

honestly just couldn’t get into it

A quick and enjoyable read. Interesting premise, and enough development along the way to keep me hooked. Not my favorite Atwood book (the Maddaddam trilogy and Handmaid's Tale being at the top) but still glad I read it, and I would recommend it to others.

This novel is yet another reason to love Margaret Atwood. I really enjoyed reading it. :)

My first Margaret Atwood since reading Handmaidens Tale many years ago. Interesting near future premise recognisable in the current socio-economic environment. But that was quickly sidelined by conspiracy and robotics. Not a great piece of literature and felt like cheap read.

Bought these when they first came out and just got around to reading them. Now, I don't think the fifth installment is still available since they were pulled to publish as a novel. Oh well!

This book started out extremely bleak, and then turned into something fairly ridiculous. The themes about sex and corporate greed are interesting, but somehow I didn’t understand where it was all going. The ending is quite thought-provoking though.
