This book felt like an adult version of Divergent (if Tris knew she was different the whole time and had trained for Dauntless). I liked the idea of the story, but I felt like the writing was not strong enough to sustain it. Wren, the FMC is an immature character who acts rashly and even in a life or death situation, she’s more concerned about her attraction to Cross than her own, or others safety. Her rash actions result in more than one death, which she may feel bad about for half a day before she goes back to thinking about how attractive Cross is…

The big reveals were all noticeably telegraphed and obvious. I doubt I’ll circle back on book 2.
