There’s slang language that might offend people, or, as it did me, disturb their reading experience. In addition some sentences were not grammatically correct, although some of those errors might just be typos etc.
All in all a great read.

A cool premise but it kind of fell apart 3/4 of the way through. By the final chapters i was confused by the large host of characters and the final reveal was kind of anticlimactic as it wasn’t clear to me how the conclusion was reached

Music, mayhem and murder are in the wake of the deadly Axeman. A noir narrative set just at the end of WWI filled with a great wealth of characters. The three protagonists are each eager to solve the mystery but stumble upon very different revelations. The descriptions are musical which changes with the action, it feels like jazz is somehow playing through the words and to me this is reinforced with the different approaches to solving the crimes. Pace increases as the sense of threat looms over the city of New Orleans. In the pursuit of truth and justice, the protagonists are brought to the brink of darkness but will the curse of the Axeman leave its mark? A solid detective story that has a truly cinematic quality in its writing.

Absolutely loved this book. The story was brilliant and kept me guessing and interested through out. It got better as it went on and the last 100 pages or so were fantastic. Not sure why this isn’t more highly rated on here cause it was bloody brilliant!
