This is maybe the first work of literature I’ve read that is a direct result of and reflection on the effects of the Covid pandemic, and I don’t know, I just really needed this right now.

Highly recommend the audiobook version. Of course the narration by the author adds a lot to it, but the recording of that extinct bird near the end honestly made me emotional.

god.

this was completely incidental so this review is biased, but I picked up this book at exactly the right time in my life. my meds make it difficult for me to cry but I needed to and this book yanked the tears right out of me. and even though it came to me at the right moment, it's also a book I know I can return to later for comfort; john green shares the same kind of specific, existential anxiety that I do, and so I find this work soothing. they're frank, but kind and patient and passionate, and they're written in language that's easy to follow. thanks john green!

A beautiful series of essays inspired by the good and the bad of life and humanity. I listened to the audio book which was read by the author. It was quite a good listened and each essay is interesting.
