I have loved this series and this was a really good ending, loose ends tied but not tight enough to prevent a continuation of the story

My Thoughts On: Hawkeye #16

1. Well, this fight escalated quickly... Again, all these supervillains manage to mobilize so fast.

2. Kate trusting her dad feels like it's a bad idea, but I'm willing to watch it play out.

3. There's a supervillain with a sword? Really? And his name is Swordsman? I'm not sure whether to cringe or laugh.

4.
Johnny is a rock person now? When did Johnny become a rock person? Why even introduce this in the last issue of the series? I'm so done.

5. I appreciate that Eden is a conflicted villain who hates that she is causing the kind of damage she blames Clint and the Avengers for, but also she can go jump off a cliff.

6. Clint gives the most sincere speech I've ever heard at gunpoint, and I love every minute of it: "I understand what you're going through. I lost... I lost someone I loved, too. Someone who was a compass in my life for so long I can't remember what my life was before her. The world without her is... It's just so much less in every way. If that's what I've done to you, if that's a fraction of how I've mad you feel... Then I'm deeply sorry, and whatever price you want me to pay.. I'll pay it." It may have been a set up, but I also believed every word he said. Who did he lose? Natasha? Is Natasha dead in canon? I just can't keep track.

7. God, Eden's scene with her daughter breaks my heart, and it clearly breaks Kate's too. Great, now I'm sad.

8. Kate gets to reunite with her friends and share an inside joke as actual adults Clint and Detective Rivera look on in confusion and fondness? Hella yes.

9.
KATE'S MOM IS ALIVE AND KNOWS MADAME MASQUE!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? WHY IS THIS SOMETHING WE ARE REVEALING RIGHT NOW? THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE ENTIRE ARC!
I really love this series, but several plot points feel unfinished, and overall the second half of the series doesn't live up to its potential. Want to know why? See my spoiler in this review for more detail. I really hope there is another Kate Bishop series or a large arc in another series that explores some of these threads.

10. "Anchor points were what I started with... what brought me here. What I was looking for. But now I've found all new ones. Ones worth sticking around for. Because who knows what's next?"

I picked up Hawkeye on a whim when I stumbled across the first few issues at a Half Price Books. They looked interesting, and I've always liked Hawkeye, so... I fell in love. Kate Bishop is an incredible Hawkeye. She's clever, silly, and I frequently found myself laughing at the things she said and did.

Jessica Jones made an appearance for a few issues. Kate is a Private Investigator (or trying to be), and JJ offered to show her the ropes (prior to the comic starting). She pops in for a visit with a little business on the side, and I really enjoyed the banter between the two.

Hawkeye (Clint Barton) shows up at the end, and it's like seeing your brother and best friend for the first time in forever. They have an easy relationship, and they just understand each other. Watching two Hawkeyes fight baddies was so much fun!

I cannot believe this is ending so soon, but the final page said she (Kate Bishop) would return in August, so we'll see! It could mean a lot of things: a new arc, a new writer, etc. This one left something major unresolved (not really a cliffhanger per se...), so there is plenty to build on. I hope they do! I would like to know what happens with a certain something.
