I wanted to read this before watching it on AcornTV. It’s just as delightful as I hoped. Agatha is salty but endearing. The mystery is intriguing. There’s a lot of set up since it’s the first in the series. Will definitely read more.

Great Read

This was an enjoyable read. This is the first book in the Agatha Raisin series. In this book, Agatha retires from her job and moves to a village away from London. She enters a quiche baking contest in an attempt to impress people who live in the village. When one of the quiche judges is poisoned to death by the quiche that Agatha bought, the mystery of who done it begins. Was it an accident or intentional? I thought the story was great. The idea of death by quiche sounds interesting to investigate. I thought Agatha was an interesting character as well. She is not what I expected for a character, but she did grow on me. I just thought she would be more sweet is all. I thought the mystery aspect was great. It kept me interested in reading. It was a great introduction to a new cozy mystery series, and I think it did not disappoint. I am glad that I finally got to read this book. I cannot wait to read book 2. Agatha Raisin and The Vicious Vet, here I come. Overall, a great read.

A grand but fairly average mystery novel. Easy enough read but not a page turner you’re keen to burn through.
