I purchased this book 4 yrs ago on a trip to Wales where many of my ancestors were born and emigrated to the US from in ~1850-1881. My husband and I hiked to the peak on Angel Mtn (Pembrokeshire) and encountered other hikers who recommended this book as local and social history, set on Angel Mountain, and a lively read. I bought a copy when we hiked back down to town.

There are a variety of circumstances in the plot which result in various encounter with the JUSTICE SYSTEM in Wales in 1796-1797. That alone I found interesting.

Ultimately, the average American reader may not find it riveting reading, but I was enthralled by it!!
