Consort of Shadows was ultimately a quick read, but the story felt extremely fleshed out and detailed. There was not a part of it that I didn't enjoy. Williams has created a series of characters that bring a new sense to the world in her fantasy novella. The characters, especially Koya, are starting a journey that I can only hope will be extended into a second installment of this book. If you enjoy fantasy characters and elements, you will enjoy this short novel centered around an elven girl whose life changes drastically. She's at war with an Empress who has the ability to destroy her, but with help from her recently found people, Koya might be able to change the world.
