White woman fucks up her marriage and goes on a pilgrimage to asia fueled only by her self satisfaction and 200k advance.

Wow she whines about her marriage a lot for someone who says nothing about it. And i love him but i am unhappy. And immediately moves in with her boyfriend. Then cries in her bathroom again over him.

Goes to italy. Cries more over them both. Pats herself on thr back for not sleeping with her Italian tutor. Has weird sexual descriptions of food. Doesnt sight see. Museums. Art. Churches. History. Just pasta language class and pining over hot italian men she wont sleep with. Writes in her notebook to herself as god.

India- goes to an ashram and is so full of herself about her higher level of spiritual journey. Being the amazing guide for others. Physically exhausted after meditation. At one point summons her and her ex husbands souls together so that they both know they are born forgiving each other. No longer feels guilty for how the relationship ended. Does a handstand

Indonesia- sometimes hangs out with a medicine man. Sometimes a medicine woman. Prays, sees a few ceremonies.  Weirdly comments on how a 13 year old moves her hips in the soft sensual grace of a creature that knows she could seduce a god. Superior feelings about not boinking the first hot Brazilian that pays her attention. Boinks him the next day because dreams??

How tiresome this book was. Gilbert is really self-absorbed and spoiled. Parts were interesting - she did tell some good stories, especially in Bali - but it felt like it took me forever to get through this book.

Interesting at the start but I got bored by the end
