I read this book right after the end of a 19 year relationship. It really hit a fews notes in me and made me think of a few things that I had been avoiding. I would love to reread it but I gave it too a friend in need as well.

Not rating this book because I don’t feel that it is my place to judge one’s story. It was only my place to listen.

If I could give this book more stars, I would.

Plain and simple.

This book is a must read for any woman (at any age) who are looking to make a major change in their life. It appeals to all sorts. The travelers, the religious, the self-serving, the divorcee, the homemaker, the feminist.

I personally had hesitations towards this book due to me being quite secular, but as I read more and more, I realized that Gilbert is not going for a 2nd chance at God or trying to convert her readers. This book is an informative look at an alternative life.

a great book to help you realize can you say no to others, and get in charge of your life.

there is always some point of your day/life, where you can learn to sit back, enjoy the solitude of life, and get reaborbed into your hopes, dreams, and fantasies

Obviously, I am late to this party.

I had not read this book for years on purpose. I assumed this book was not for me. I gave it a go because I love Elizabeth Gilbert's TED talk on writing.

I'm so glad I did. This book is open and unabashed. It feels like a long conversation with a friend about life. It does not seem like a solution or a recipe for success. Instead, it is a fantastic story. It is well-written and well-told. I listened to the audiobook, and Gilbert's voice is the perfect fit for her own story in a way that does not always happen.

Read this book if: you like interesting anecdotes at cocktail parties. You like to hear about people's inner lives. You ever wondered what an ashram is like. You enjoy great storytelling.
