This book is hard to describe. It's vivid and visceral in a way that can often be as uncomfortable as it is fantastical. The stories flowed together as if all of the protagonists were the same person, like anecdotes in a memoir, maybe. I definitely enjoyed parts of it, but I'm not sure which was my favorite.

K-Ming is a brilliant writer and she definitely has a way with words - she describes things so uniquely and viscerally, bravo.
But I did find some of the stories became a little repetitive though, and some of the depictions of body processes and gore felt a little heavy handed in places for my taste.

This is such a dreamlike experience where whilst you're reading you can totally go with it but afterwards you can't explain to anyone in a way that makes sense and it's magical

Absolutely perfect. There are no word left K-Ming Chang hasn't already used. A beautifully vivid imagery. It feels vapid to describe the intersections in this book: race, identity, class, sexuality, gender all feel like shells in comparison to this. Yes, the book covers them all, yes the book is about them, but no, it's not simply about that, but so much more.
