I Don't How To Feel About This One But I Hated The Ending^^!

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the dialogue, especially the vivid dialect and the description of the living of the poor people in Lambeth back in these days.

Dislike: printed Cockney slang, too-neat-and-tidy convenient death. This is Maugham’s first, though. First! He was twenty-three. What was I doing at 23?

You could say, this is the novel he wrote before he started flipping novels on their head.

The first Maugham´s novel, promising a very nice debut.

Down among the drab slums of Lambeth, eighteen-year-old Liza is the darling of Vere Street. Vibrant and bewitching, she is adored by the steady, loyal Tom. But then Liza meets Jim Blakeston, charming and worldy, new to the area, and married.
