I loved this book. I can relate to the pain of losing a father. It brings you into the glorious struggle to find meaning in life.
I listened to the audiobook.
My reviews are mixed on this one. At times, the writing was abrupt and missed the mark. Then, in other chapters, the writing was perfect.

Not what I expected, but still very charming and insightful. If you’re looking for a play-by-play of the history of the bourbon industry and of Pappy’s brands, you won’t find that here. But it’s an interesting and thoughtful biography of Julian the Third; a shallow dive into the resurrection of the Van Winkle brands and where they are today; a love letter to Kentucky; and a philosophical exploration in legacy, family, and making memories.

Took a bit to get into, but I grew to really like it. Makes part of me want to read more biographies. A couple very thought provoking points that are worth recording.
Really moving writing, and I learned some details about bourbon making, but could’ve stood to learn a LOT more. Also fairly repetitive and nonlinear at times in a way that bugged me. Still good tho, and always love an unexpected Springsteen plug
