Cibola Burn while solidly in the middle of The Expanse universe feels like the end of part 1. The main crew of characters that we have been following are being manipulated by forces out of their control and they have to figure out what is really the thing they should be focused on.

The beginning of this one is somewhat more confusing than some of the others although it does have the same format of having some new conflict being the part of the story we are introduced to first and going on everything eventually comes together in a solid and satisfying manner. It doesn't jump around as much as some of the others and the rating is more for how it brings one part of the story to what I think is a conclusion while setting up for the next part.

The first half of the book was a slog but the second half was exactly what I like about this series!

Very cool science, likable characters, great world building.
