Couldn't put it down. Difficult topic but author does an amazing job...
Broke my heart! Such a great story of compassion and also the elasticity of human emotions. Whew! Yeah... this was a good one!
Once I got used to the simplistic writing style, I really enjoyed it. Books o this subject are always a hard read and my heart broke for the characters.
Well written, but a sad story. This novel was a page turner from page one. It told a story of a child who is taken away from his parents because they are child molestors. He joins a new family who treats him as one of their own.
The theme of this book was extremely difficult, but I liked the way it was written. I enjoyed it.
This was a fantastic book. I was totally engrossed for two days and if i didn't have to work i would have finished it in one. Highly recommended. But if you are squeamish reading about sexual abuse, think about reading this book first. It has a few slightly graphic parts.
Excellent book! This focuses on the dynamics between many different relationships - brothers, mother-son, father-son, mentors, etc. It starts off with Sarah, a single mother of two boys still dealing with the death of her husband two years ago and the impact that this has had on her two children. What happens next will have life-altering affects on the whole family. This story is not for the faint of heart - it deals with very difficult issues including child abuse and foster care. It was an excellent read, invoking emotion and thoughtfulness.
This book is one of the best books I have read so far this year. With that said, the subject matter is difficult and uncomfortable. At no time does the author become explicit, but if you have any imagination, you get the idea.
