Ghost Summer by Tananarive Due ☀️

This is a debut collection of short stories categorised into 4 sections. I really enjoyed reading this book. The stories from Gracetown were my favourite as it explored the paranormal trope that I'm a big fan of. Each story has a diverse cast of characters, often exploring the horrifying reality of racism in the past and modern world. A lot of the stories are left open ended, allowing you to think about what may or may not of happened, which I thinks makes reading an anthology even more enjoyable, as each story will really stay with you. The beautiful writing is truly captivating and will fully submerge you in each setting and each characters life. The authors notes are a fascinating insight into the reasons why the stories were created, and it really added an extra appreciation to the masterpieces Tananarive has created. Not every single story in this collection was my personal cup of tea, but that didn't dampen my experience or put me off this book in any way. I'm excited to check out more from this author, as I know I'll be instantly gripped and haunted by her delicately gothic writing style.
