Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

January is always a great month of reading for me. That clean slate feeling is very addictive. I love choosing books that captured my attention but sat in my TBR pile. January is a chance to give those waiting books a read. I loved Sarah Morgan's book The Christmas Sisters and could not wait to read another of her holiday offerings.

A Wedding in December is written by Sarah Morgan. It is published by HQN Books and is her 2019 Christmas novel of which she releases yearly. In this story of holiday romance and second chances, we are introduced to Rosie White. Rosie is getting married to a man she recently met and she has invited her family to Colorado for her Christmas wedding. Her mother, Maggie, has made Christmas at their family cottage a yearly event. What Rosie does not know is that her parents are about to get a divorce. And that her doctor sister, Katie, is hellbent on making sure Rosie does not get married.

As the family begins to fly into America for the wedding, the Whites all seem to be pretending. Maggie and her husband Nick act as if they are not divorcing. Katie is at odds with the groom's handsome best man, Jordan, as she hides away a secret of her own. And Rosie is having second thoughts about her future with Dan. It is time for secrets to be revealed and true love to blossom.

A Wedding in December was a very satisfying story. I brought out some of my favorite aspects of a good contemporary read. There was a cast of likable characters. Scenic locations. And the writing was very well-paced and not rushed. I felt comfortable reading this book. It was as if a warm blanket had been put around me. Morgan's warmth for her characters shines brightly with this novel. She takes the time to let her readers get to know her characters enough to want to care for them. Joining the wedding party is also Dan's mother, Catherine. She is warm and cheerful as she plans her son's wedding. But she also faces the torment of the loss of her husband. Genuine three-dimensional characters drive this story forward. This wonderful combination set in the snowy mountains of Colorado is the perfect blend of family drama and romance. The finale is heart-warming and made me smile quite a lot.

I read A Wedding in December in part with the narration of actress, Lucy Tregear. Her voice is syrupy sweet and every character she read made the narrative very natural and real. I loved listening to her voice and will seek out more books narrated by her.

A Wedding in December gave me exactly what I was looking for. I needed a five-star read to usher in the new year. I needed a book that would make me want more from not only the author but the audiobook narrator as well. I definitely found that in this wonderful holiday read. A great pick for a cold weekend with some warm cocoa. Enjoy!

Have fun reading this week. Let me know in the comments below what you are reading this week.

If you're looking for a festive, cosy and heartwarming book then this one is for you!

In the snowy perfection of Aspen, the White family gathers for youngest daughter Rosie’s whirlwind Christmas wedding. The brides parents are secretly on the brink of divorce and are thrown together for romantic activities all while trying to hide their separation from their two daughters.

Rosies older sister Dr. Katie is determined to show Rosie that a whirlwind wedding is a mistake and wants to convince her to re think her life. However, best man Jordan is determined to make things go as smoothly as possible for the bride and groom, interfering with Katies plans along the way.

The authors descriptions Colorado and the mountains is fantastic and you can completely feel yourself in the snow and wilderness. These descriptions give the book such a magical cosy feel while also providing real life situations such as the idea of divorce and everyday struggles, as well as true love and spontaneity and family life. These together make this such a heartwarming book to read and you feel like you are on the journey with them.

The books is written from multiple points of view which I really enjoyed as you got to see and feel what the characters were feeling and thinking more closely. It was also nice to see different romance perspectives in a book rather than that of a young couple or a perfectly in love couple. Seeing the story of the parents' relationship with each other was refreshing to see.

I would definitely like to read more by Sarah Morgan as this was my first novel of hers and would highly recommend this to someone looking for a cosy romance set in winter.

i liked this one

This was my third book by Sarah Morgan this holiday season, and just like the other two, it was a festive comfort read—-highly predictable but enjoyable— with the perfect wintry Colorado setting. I appreciated having a middle-age couple with realistic problems in this one.

Happy Reading, friends!

Last year, I read & loved THE CHRISTMAS SISTERS so much I became a Sarah Morgan Fangirl. She’s able to write these relatable, memorable & realistic female characters that I love.

I've not read anything by Sarah Morgan before but I adore Christmas romances and could not resist downloading this one. The cover is gorgeous too!

This story is about the women of the White family and all the secrets they are keeping from each other - secrets that are sure to come out when they meet up for a glamorous wedding in Aspen. Maggie is married to Nick, an Egyptologist. They've been living apart for six months but Maggie hasn't been able to bring herself to tell their two grown-up daughters, Katie and Rosie. Katie is working all hours as a doctor, and is on the brink of a breakdown after a traumatic event. When her younger sister Rosie announces that she's getting married to someone she's only just met, Katie's sole intention is to stop it taking place. Rosie, meanwhile, has spent her life trying to prove to her family that she's a grown woman, capable of making her own decisions - but is the decision to marry so quickly the right one?

I loved A Wedding in December. It's chock-full of brilliant characters that I couldn't help rooting for. I loved 'Cactus Katie', her determination to protect her sister at all costs, even if that means stopping the wedding, and her prickliness towards poor Jordan. The part when she's trying to cross an icy bridge, determined not to ask for help, is priceless. Maggie is funny, Rosie is sweet - and so is poor Nick, who is not quite sure how he ended up on the wrong side of a divorce.

A Wedding in December is perfect for anyone wanting an escapist, heart-warming, romantic festive read in the run-up to Christmas. One of my favourites this year.
