I devoured this book in a day. I was initially worried about the length, usually preferring to read books half that size. Surprisingly, the pace never faltered and I didn’t get bored like I have in previous books.
This novel follows Reia and Orpheus. Reia is sent as a human sacrifice to Orpheus, a daywalker demon that only ventures out once every ten years to receive a new sacrifice. Reia expects him to be a cruel monster with no redeeming qualities and is plotting her escape before they even reach his home. As it turns out, though, all Orpheus has ever wanted from these sacrifices was companionship and is hopeful he can find that in Reia.
I sometimes find fantasy hard to follow with worldbuilding and a variety of mythical creatures. With A Soul to Keep, I didn’t have that issue at all! The pacing was great, the characters were described well, and I was able to envision the world around them.
Have I mentioned that the smut was fantastic as well?!
I will admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending but that’s okay. I am more than happy to rate this book a 5/5 stars! I know book 2 in the series is releasing soon and I cannot wait!

Orpheus is SO ADORABLE! all he wants to do is please her in ALL ways! He doesn’t want her to hurt and just wants to protect her as well. As I wasn’t expecting SO many sex scenes in this book I gave it 4 stars. It seems like after every activity they do…eating, sleeping, etc. they have sex AGAIN! Don’t get me wrong! That is NOT a bad thing. I thoroughly enjoyed the story a love story you might say about a strong willed woman who falls in love!

I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. While I do think it has its flaws, I also think it does a good job of creating a cohesive plot, melded with a budding romance. I genuinely enjoyed both the leads of the books and found them to be compelling in their own ways. I do believe that there is a lot of world building, that may be important for later installments, but it is jarring at times and can take a read out of the immersion. It would be hard to say I would recommend this book to a lot of people, but I would site it as an example that adult romance books, can have decent writing and story elements, when they want to.

3.5 rounded down because I felt like it!!! (Spoilers)
I liked this book a lot but I definitely feel like it was a little too long maybe? I feel like a surprise villain thats just a woman who was literally kidnapped by the mmc probably wasn't the way to go?? But what can u do
I think Orpheus was very cute and sweet I love him very much
