Really interesting stories in this book. Dave comes across as a genuine really nice guy.
I couldn't put this book down! Dave is an amazing storyteller and I missed reading these stories after being finished with the book. Some biographies can be so flat, but this was incredibly engaging for me. Makes me think if I can also learn drumming on pillows...

How shall I begin? Well. To be quite honest, I felt like Dave was focusing too much on name dropping and less on the stories of his life. While it was cool at first to hear about all the amazing people Dave knows, it just got… too surreal. I felt like there was so much focus on the people Dave found cool that there wasn’t enough space to hear how Dave is cool. Because he is. He is an INSANE musician. A true rockstar. And I wanted more. I wanted more Nirvana stories. I wanted more Foo Fighter stories. I wanted to hear about mistakes he made and how he overcame them. I wanted to hear a bunch of silly touring stories. I wanted to hear fun stories about his mom and how his family came to be. Which, don’t get me wrong, there is some of that, but it’s overshadowed by his best friendship with Paul McCartney and once in a lifetime introductions to AC/DC and Joan Jett. It just didn’t feel relatable, which who am I kidding, how could I ever relate to Dave Grohl? But I would have liked some semblance of the relatable moments you experience in memoirs.
I don’t want to diss on it too much because there were parts I really enjoyed. They might not have been in the right order… or were cut short because of the distraction of other stories… but there were moments it was a fun, good time. And the music between parts in the audiobook is such an awesome edition!

Absolutely loved this book
It's so heartwarming and laugh out loud funny, if you're a fan of the foos or just want to learn some rock and roll history then get this! Have to admit I also bought this on audible just to hear the wonderful Dave Grohl narrate it. He's an absolute genius and such a beautiful person inside and out. Loved this book.

Slightly dissapointed, probably by the title… too much ‘I’ in the whole book. Of course it’s nice to have a peek inside the life of a foo fighter, but the stories aren’t that fascinating.
"So, when you hear that parade coming down the street, spreading joy and love with every note, don’t just listen; join in the march. You never know where it may lead you."
I love Dave Grohl but this book just didn't deliver. This book is not an autobiography and not a cohesive collection of tales either. It's superficial & disconnected. Some chapters take massive tangents to deliver nothing. A better editor could have made wonders with this but maybe not.
Dave Grohl is the good guy. He is upbeat and positive. There's barely a tension in the book - it's mostly an ode to his family (serious mom crush and children) & artists he admires. It's also a display of money being thrown around in a very privileged life - like the time he flew 40h in 2 days to be at a dance with his children while touring in Australia... all in all, very average. Sorry, Dave! You still rock!
