Terrible writing, slow plot, but hella entertaining
Definitely a 4* read! I think it would have been a 5* for me but some parts of it just kind of felt a littleeee bit dragged out and not needed (I’m also super picky though so that’s totally on me but I want my reviews to be accurate to me lol). I was still absolutely loving the story and I read the majority of it all within a day. I really do like the characters and the fact that Elise has quite a strong relationship with each one but with massive differences in how they connect is interesting. I don’t yet know who I’m rooting for but I think it might be between Gabriel and Dante…. Immediately starting book 2!

It’s cute, but wayyy too long. As I neared the end of the book, I kept wondering how they were going to wrap up this storyline - and they literally didn’t. The pages are cluttered with too many of her inner thoughts (the same ones on repeat) as well as the boys. Plus, publishers didn’t focus on maintaining grammar, which is distracting. On the plus side, the steamy bits were great and kept me going. I’m not reading the next book in the series because if it’s anything like this one, I’ll get half a story and boring thoughts on repeat.
Graphic: Addiction, Body horror, Bullying, Cursing, Death, Drug abuse, Drug use, Emotional abuse, Gore, Mental illness, Rape, Self harm, Sexual content, Suicide, Torture, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Dementia, Kidnapping, Grief, Stalking, Murder, Fire/Fire injury, Gaslighting, Sexual harassment, Injury/Injury detail
This was slow and rough to get into, I found the boys POV pretty one note and not adding that much. And Elise was not super engaging as a heroine, the last 20% was interesting because we starting puzzling things out but otherwise this was a slog to get through.

Okay this was actually so fun. I loved it. I think I’m really starting to get why everyone loves the ZA world so much.
Yes there are some cringey and stereotypical character tropes and dialogue… Elise is “not a girl’s girl” as Cindy Lou points out. And she’s got all the powerful hot men basically wrapped around her finger fighting over who gets to be her source and who gets to hang out with her. But I can’t help it I am just so here for it.
Leo. Leo had me cracking up. Him and all his Mindys running around — I simultaneously want to shake my head and laugh out loud.
Dante, Ryder and Gabriel are all super hot and dark and broody and it’s great.
I’m reading this after ZA3 and I can officially say I love the Ruthless Boys. Even though I do want to go back to Zodiac Academy, I also can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
