These boys have nothing on the Heirs. If you like books where multiple guys are constantly falling at a girl's feet, obsessing over her, and the only thing they seem to care about is how badly they want to sleep with her—then this book might be for you. But for me? I need personality. I want depth. I came across this guide that shows the best reading order to get the most emotional impact from the Zodiac world, but honestly, I'm really tempted to just go back to Zodiac Academy—unless someone can convince me the other books actually get better.

"Buckle up bitch. Here goes nothing." 💜

Having just finished Dark Fae by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, I can genuinely say I had a fantastic time with it. As my first foray into the world of reverse harem, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but this book was a truly fun read. The authors have crafted a compelling narrative that blends dark academia with a thrilling murder mystery, all wrapped up in a supernatural setting.

The main protagonist, Elise, is absolutely brilliant. Her drive for vengeance after her brother's murder is incredibly compelling, and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way as she navigates the treacherous Aurora Academy. The academy itself is a character in its own right, divided by two rival gangs and brimming with dangerous Fae. It's an environment that keeps you on edge, wondering what explosive confrontation will erupt next.

The reverse harem aspect is handled well, introducing four distinct "kings" who each have a connection to Elise and her mission. I loved the dynamic between Elise and these powerful Fae – Dante, Leon, Ryder, and the mysterious fourth. They all have their own secrets and motivations, and the chemistry is undeniable. It's not a bully romance, which was a welcome change; instead, it delves into themes of hidden pasts, a quest for truth, and a woman finding her strength amidst formidable male presences. The slow-burn tension and evolving relationships were incredibly engaging.

While the world-building is expansive and intriguing, I appreciate that the mystery of her brother's death isn't neatly tied up by the end of the first book. It leaves you eager for more, creating a sense of anticipation for the rest of the series. Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti have a knack for crafting unforgettable characters and a plot that keeps you guessing. It's a dark, exciting, and thoroughly enjoyable start to what promises to be an epic series.

This book was so addictive to read! It feels almost like junk food 😂

We follow Elise, a bad ass vampire investigating her brother’s death at an academy full of people who have an order (I guess magic creature) and have a power over their element from their zodiac sign.

In doing so, she’s dangerously flirting with some of the kings at this school who are so fun to read about 🤭

I’m obsessed with magic and star signs so this was perfect 👀 excited to read the rest of the series.
