Nothing really ever happens in these books :( the writing is beautiful at times, but I'm not invested in the characters. Alizeh is annoying and weak, Cyrus' only personality trait is being obsessed with her, and Kamran's a little bitch.

This is the best book of the series so far in my opinion and I dedicate that to the fact that a lot less of it was written in Kamran’s POV. To make it even better, we even got a bit of Cyrus’ POV! I’m fully sold on Cyrus, I live for THE PINING. I really like that they aren’t together yet either, I was scared since half of the previous books were written in Kamran’s pov that it wouldn’t give the romance between Cyrus and Alizeh to develop nicely, but this has thankfully been avoided. I love the concept of the blood oath, it will make the next book very interesting. Don’t get me started on the hurt-comfort that I expect to be seeing in the next book.

This book made up for the mediocre 2nd book and fianlly had some plot and tension again. It lived up to the expectations from the 1st one much more.
In the 2nd book I was kinda undecided who I ship with Alizeh, but my god Kamran drove me INSANE in this one. I'm all for Cyrus now. It's the only thing that I strongly disliked in this book. The fact that Kamran was constantly whining and just being an ass all around. I would have liked more from the other 3 following Kamran, especially Omir was missing a lot.
I was surprised this ended quite unresolved as I thought this was the final book, turns out it isn't?

Honestly, certain characters are so insufferable that I'm shocked Tahereh Mafi didn't yeet them out of this book. A great well done for making me roll my eyes and hating them! But the politics, the romance, the world building and character background? Oh my... I think someone took my heart away! It wasn't just broken but also stolen
