I found myself jumping between feeling extreme ich and swoon over the mail characters thoughts and description of eachother. I listened to some of it on audiobook so maybe the narrator affected it a little. Miss Huds creates a comedic relief and her quarrels with Kamran are entertaining.
The world is also very interesting!

SPOILERS:

I don’t really find the whole reasoning for why the blood pact absolutely HAD to be done plausible as it seems like Alizeh did kind of trust him enough to a point where it was not neccessary to go through with it other than for the drama of it.
Was interesting to learn more or Cyrus background and time at the diviners.

I was anticipating this book for so long and devoured it like it was oxygen. With how book 2 ended, I was on the edge of my seat from the get go with this book. The varying relationships in this book mixed with the high-stakes plot was enthralling. Kamran’s one goal is to get revenge, but the growing tension and curiosity between Alizeh and Cyrus might get in the way of his goals. I cannot wait to continue this journey in the next book!

God, he’d wanted her. He’d wanted her with an all-consuming thirst, with the desperation of a man waiting to die.

CYRUS OF NARA, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.

this entire book was him being #1 simp for alizeh and i'm not mad about it. i'm loving the rag tag found family vibe developing. i've been a hazan/kamran shipper since book 1 but other things may be developing 👀  and i like it.

i do think more could have happened plotwise in this book, but for the cyrus content she gave me i don't even care. i'll read 6 books of him pining for alizeh. also this got SURPRISINGLY steamy, ok tahereh!!!!

“Do you think I’ve been lying to you?”
“Yes,” she said, and paused. “Except that I have the strangest feeling you might be lying about how horrible you are.”

She was a fool to think otherwise. He was a fool to think of her at all.
