A very short and sweet book about a child and her umbrella.
With amazing descriptions of mountain landscapes of Himalayas, Ruskin Bond has given us a glimpse of the lives of those village people uphills in this elegant children's tale. There is beauty not only the outward one which, I think, the umbrella symbolizes but also inward which we realise as the situations take turn towards the end. There is greed, there is envy but there is also the strength of attachment and the wonder of goodwill. One of the most wholesome children's stories no doubt.
No matter how many times I read this story, it never fails to lift the spirit. Such a delightful tale!
And the best part is that that joy remains even after you finish reading it.

What a heartwarming little book.
I did not get into Ruskin Bond as a kid, because I didn't read as much. But now I'm starting to make my way through it and I get it. I get all. The writing is so simple, so wonderfully, fundamentally human. The stories, they hit you right in the feels.
I'm so looking forward to reading more of Bond, and thankfully, it seems like I have a LOT of ground to cover.

Beautifully written short story describing human characteristics. It portrays the image of a human kind and how do they respond in a poetic manner.

The Blue Umbrella by Ruskin Bond is a heartwarming tale about a young girl named Binya and her prized possession, a blue umbrella. Set in the stunning Himalayan mountains, this book beautifully captures the simplicity and magic of childhood. Bond's writing is evocative and lyrical, and the characters are vividly brought to life. A must-read for fans of coming-of-age stories and those looking for a dose of nostalgia.
