Everything that I have encountered so far with Ruskin Bond Stories is that I can relate quickly and its so simplified that's it true beauty
Everytime it's like a Nostalgic feeling that has always been around to wander with
Overall, this is best for quick reads
May be this the first book I actually received, read and reviewed may be less than 3 hours.
At first till chapter 4 there is nothing intriguing
except Binya and Characters around her
Later other chapters baffles me more than any previous incidents
In exchange for her lucky leopard's claw pendant, Binya acquires a beautiful blue umbrella
THERE SHE HAD A BEAR CLAW that was the best part for me. Apart from her understanding and mature actions

Exceptionally beautiful, in this few pages, Ruskin Bond charms the reader with his writing and exposing human nature of greed and innocence of children. An umbrella can have a story and this novella justifies with the story of a blue umbrella.
THE BLUE UMBRELLA - As the name says the book is about a blue umbrella and a girl named Binya. The Story takes place in a village which is a part of Himalayan range. In that village, there lives a girl of probably 10 years old named Binya with her elder brother and widowed mother.
One day when she went to graze the cows, she met a group of picnickers in the forest, with them there was this Blue umbrella. Binya fell in love with the umbrella at the first sight and she got it from them in exchange for her lucky charm pendant.
She embraced that umbrella a lot and always had that umbrella open and near her. In her village, almost everyone had their eyes on Binya's umbrella because of its beauty and Charmness. All were envious of Binya for her umbrella. A person named Ram Bharosa, the shopkeeper was the most envious of them who always wanted to own that Blue umbrella by some means.
Did Ram Bharose succeed in getting the umbrella from Binya? Did Binya let go of her treasured possession? What had happened to that blue umbrella? To answer all your questions, read the book and get the answers.
The author has beautifully described the village and the people living there.
His words give us perfect picturization of the mountains, forest and the area around them. Also the portrayal of all the characters especially Binya - her innocence, her good hearted nature and her love for the umbrella make us fall in love with her character.
As the story proceeds to the end, we will fall in love with Binya even more and even on other characters as well. Moreover, the author thoroughly exhibits all villagers ideally.
That is the icing on the cake to the story.
Overall it is a good book suitable for child readers and above. If you want a light read you can pick this up.

Oh Binya, why so caring? Ruskin Bond knows how to keep the kids embedded with his stories. Even as an adult, I enjoy reading his work and my favorite thing about him is that he conveys messages through each of his stories.
