This is Adam and Evie's story. Adam is a rich kid with terrible parents. Evie is on the opposite end of the spectrum, not much money but parents who loved her and a sick little sister. I figured out why Evie left right away. This book was only ok for me. I didn't connect with characters. I thought Adam was a dick right away and he never grew on me. There were some cute moments and it was well-written with some steamy scenes. I loved The Mighty Storm and all the books in that series and I'll keep reading her books, even if this one wasn't my favorite.

Predictable, boring, and tedious beyond belief. I gave it two stars and that's being generous. It could have worked had it been a lot less contrived and forced and so so so predictable. I saw the big reveal coming early in the story and it made every chapter drag on and on. Even so, it could have been saved had the characters been interesting or likeable, but they're not. They're just flat.

Ok there were parts that were a little predictable but overall I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was heartfelt and certainly pulled at my emotions. There was a good balance of sex scenes alongside the rest of the storyline and all the characters seemed to be well rounded. I'd love to see more their stories

3/5 stars

I thought this would be a really good second chance love story but it wasn't, pretty predictable and dumb.

Evie and Adam's reunion after ten years wasn't rainbows and unicorns and I happen to like concepts like this where there's tension between the two main characters after being apart for so long because one of them left the other in the past.

This one though had me frustrated despite the HEA. Evie's been holding out the truth on why she suddenly left Adam out of the blue. It's been TEN YEARS and Adam had a lot of point during their argument. This wasn't also the first time I encountered a story where the reason for leaving was because of a third party. And I actually predicted it. I understand and respect Evie's decision for leaving but... really... ten years and she's still holding out the truth from him yet she kept saying she loves him and wants to be with him FOREVER even though Adam said he doesn't trust her anymore. He asks for the reason, she wouldn't give it to him.

The past-present from chapter to chapter was also tiring. I'm more interested in reading their present rather than having a full-length chapter of their past because it cuts whatever feeling I have after finishing the present-chapter. It's like after I finish today and wanting to know what will happen next, I get transported back to yesterday.

I loved the ending though. Despite how frustrated I felt most of the time, the ending was very satisfying for me and I love how it highlighted what happened to the other characters.

3.5 stars

So this is one of those books where I really did enjoy it, but the 3.5 star rating is because I've read this story before.

Sorry Samantha Towle, I love your books and the angsty goodness you dole out but honestly there was nothing in this book I haven't already read from a second chance romance. Nothing about it really stood out except for the reason why Evie left.

I will say that this was written really well and if I wasn't such a connoisseur of second chance romance, I would have loved this. But it was an enjoyable and fun read so don't let the 3.5 stars fool ya, go ahead and read it!

One huge issue though (please only read if you don't mind spoilers):

If I have to read one more damn second chance romance where the girl went without sex for 10+ years and the guy fucked around, I'm going to stab someone in the eye.
