This was the first book ive read by the author, I really enjoyed the story line. Two characters that had rough things going on in their life and after meeting just one time they couldnt get enough of each other. Jessie has someone that is trying to take advantage of her work life but also wants her. Brock is running away from his past that happened over two years ago and still cant break free of it. They both find themselves out their in the Alaska Wilderness. You should really read their story.

I really wanted to love this book. Alaska, forced proximity, both my jam but these weren’t the most relatable characters, They were off to a rough start and the tension was tensioning in a really entertaining way. We love a one night stand and then being forced together the next day! But by the end of the book I just felt a little over it and unsatisfied. I have the last book in the series so I’m going to give it a try because I did really enjoy the second book this one was just a little to chaotic for me but others might really like that.

I'm not going to rate this book. I DNF'd this book at chapter 15, about half way through. Porn with plot books or insta lust stories are not my cup of tea. I want to feel some type of emotional connection between the MCs and I didn't feel a real one with this book.

Don't get me wrong, the author writes smut really well. Also one night stands that turn into something more can be really great plot points in a romance.

Most of this story had Jessie amd Brock living separate. She's a struggling Alaskan Bush pilot and he's a rich boy from a big city that bought land in the wilderness to escape it all. They have a 1 night stand before Brock learns Jessie is his pilot. They get off on the memory of the sex until they see eager awhile later and instantly fall into bed again.

If you are looking for wild sex, this maybe for you but I just couldn't connect to the characters or any connection beyond a physical one.

That was a great romance with some darker themes.
Brock and Jessie are both trying to restore their lives. Jessie, with her family business and Brock, is moving out to the wilderness.
Jessie and Brock meet and have no strings attached night. However, they meet again, and sparks continue to fly.
Brock is in his alpha, feral era living out there, and the spice between them shows that.
There is someone evil who wants to hurt Jessie in all ways.
When Jessie's life is put in danger twice. Brock goes caveman and Brocks affections level up. He might not have wanted responsibility for others, but he seems to have changed his tune when it comes to her.
The setting is lovely. This feels like a slightly dangerous, cosy read. The dark themes in no way overshadow the wholesomeness of them both.
My only criticism was I don't like when animals get hurt
adventurous dark tense fast-paced

Unfortunately, this book missed the mark. For a contemporary romance, there are aspects to this story that don’t seem believable. Not only that, but the climax is so unexpected that I felt like I must’ve skipped a chapter and missed the character that it was involving. The issues that Jessie and Brock have with one another aren’t truly overcome, and what’s left is a smutty contemporary novel with a weaker plot. Further, there are multiple times where the book felt like it was written by a man and for the male gaze. Descriptions like “big tits” just made me grimace.

I enjoyed the break from fantasy and foray into contemporary romance, but wouldn’t go out of my way to read another book by this author.

Do you ever finish a book and just think wtf?
Like that's literally my only thought after finishing this... What in the ever-loving hell have I just read?
I saw this was a dark romance but it's about the weirdest dark romance I've ever read because I would say the romance itself isn't dark or taboo... But just everything else about the book is.
Don't get me wrong, the writing was amazing, the sex was just incredible and the first 20% of the plot was decent...but I can't say that I enjoyed reading the rest of it.
It was just too weird.
And I love reading Sci-Fi romance which is just glorified alien porn so I can deal with my fair share of weird but this was another level of weird. Like eating raw hearts levels of weird. The characters were good for the first little bit when they were themselves... Before they devolved into the weirdness the wilderness made them. And the ending? Is no one going to talk about what they did?
Seriously no words to describe this book.
I'm tempted to read from Lynn Burke again cause as I said the writing and sex were great... It just got a little (okay a lotta) weird along the way.

Also, this had literally no content or trigger warnings! This needs to be rectified ASAP, luckily I can deal with a lot but some of the topics are seriously warped and need to be easily found as TW in case that is something that a reader wants to avoid.

TW: Sexual Assault, Pedophilia, Incestuous themes, and Animal Cruelty. Also it was quite graphic in the gore description so if that's not your thing watch out!
