The first half was at a five star level, but I dropped my overall rating to three because the characters began to annoy me (especially Una). That bring said, if you typically enjoy shifter romances, I'd still suggest giving this one a try.

I came across a post on Reddit recommending this book. It's probably not something I would've picked up on my own, but I enjoyed it and will continue with the next in series.

I agree with everyone who says her writing is addicting. I love her heroines so far and look forward to more books in this series. The Tyrant Alpha...well I mean it's in the name, took a long time to come around for me and even then I just tolerated him lol.

I was not prepared! This book has it all and I loved every sentence. The characters, the plot, the writing; all rock solid. The way they find each other and come together… the tension… absolute bliss and emotional carnage all in one.

I loved this book. I don't really read rejected mates romances because the idea of them makes men sad/bummed out, but loved this one. I was surprised by how humorous it was. I laughed at a lot of parts. I also loved the slow burn of it. They really built up the relationship first. And there weren't so many sex scenes that it felt like it overpowered the book/plot or made the story repetitive. The only thing I didn't really like was when the FMC got so upset at the MMC for being so upset about her having sec before their relationship. She literally got upset because another female rubbed up against him and when she smelled sexual scents in his home though he'd never had sex before. It was hypocritical. She never took the time to honor his upset feelings or apologize or even really comment (outloud) on how he basically saved himself for her. He considered her feelings and that she'd probably be upset by the sexual activities he did with other women, but she never did that with him. I wanted more grace. Also, in the epilogue, we see how he'd do anything for her and how she kind of bosses him around. And I love when a man is wholly devoted and would do anything for their woman, but I also want the woman to do and feel the same, to be just as giving , as sacrificing, as compromising. Otherwise, the woman can almost feel a little too boss/callous when she uses that power she has over the man. Overall though, I really enjoyed this alot.
I'm not really a shifter/monster girlie in my reads, but I came across an online post that basically said "move past the cover/title and give this a shot" and a LOT of folks agreed.
So I gave it a shot, and dang did it floor me. I love a good grovel, and this book is full of it. The world building is really cool. The author put a lot of thought into the shifter societies and how they interact (or don't) with the human world. There's such a rich amount of culture/history/hierarchy and seems to differ between packs even. I love the characters and how flawed they all are. Well done to this author, looking forward to reading the rest.
