Beautiful. Words are amazing. Even more so when someone like andrea can arrange them like this.
I rarely pick up a poetry book, but this one fell into my lap and I loved it.

Poetry that is simultaneously heart wrenching and heart healing with a heavy dose of word play, yes please!
The book for which I have been searching all this time.
I’ve followed Andrea on Instagram for a while, so I finally decided to read this as it had been on my TBR for the longest too. Some poems I liked and resonated with more than others, but overall, I like Andrea’s style and find the hope that flows through the pages to be inspiring. I would definitely read more of their work.

I savored this little volume, allowing myself just one poem a day, usually in the morning before meditating (ok, except for the couple of really short, but no less poignant ones). I loved letting each one percolate in my head for a day before moving on. And there are some little phrases I'll hold on to for a long time, as I do with Mary Oliver. There are too many to share here, but here's one of them :
To truly live is to see
right through the skin
to the avalanche.
If we never deny
the inevitable end
of the story,
we will write it
more beautiful
while we're alive.

Queer youth are five times more likely to die by suicide is my favorite poem in this collection
