The writing was very good. I loved the descriptions and gothic setting it gave. I didn't like how there was no quotation marks to indicate speaking vs. thinking, but that may have been intentional and it's just going over my head. However, I don't think the story was well fleshed out. I feel like there was a significant amount left to desired throughout the book, including but not limited to,
Max being sexually assaulted, the ending with Lorne and Pan, Max's powers in general, the Nil's plot line, Pan and Max, the camp scene, etc
. I probably would not recommend this book.

I wasn't vibing with the story and whenever I don't vibe I'll read reviews to see if it's worth continuing. Some reviews mentioned a rape scene so yikes I'm stopping here.

I loved parts of this book, but it ultimately fell flat to me. The metaphors are a bit turgid by the end, and I found the most troubling moments of sexuality went uninterrogated.
