Great as always.

Although the ending was a bit disappointing. I kind of wanted Portis House to be completely freed. I wanted some to end up with the man in the wheelchair. He was my favorite character. I think everyone got a reasonably happy ending, except Creeton. But he was a terrible person regardless of Portis House. He deserved his ending.

I really enjoyed this book (Mary Jane Wells is a great narrator). While it covered a lot of heavy topics (abuse, PTSD, etc.) the addition of some paranormal themes helped to centre and move the plot along.

I recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from Simone St. James.

This book has a little bit of everything! Historical, paranormal, haunting, romance. It was eerie and creepy. The setting of the haunted Portis House post World War 1 was easy to immerse yourself in and the characters were witty, funny, and very relatable. If you’re looking for a light horror book, this is for you!
