This is a very short collection of poems that I read in such a disjointed way that I don’t feel comfortable giving them a rating. I believe that I liked what I read when I read it. The poet does some interesting things with words - analogies and interesting depictions.

Blown away again by this poet, I can't wait for more chapbooks by him. I was not raised in a neighborhood where "violence was not a sad poem" so I can only imagine how deeply this book will resonate with those who are from those neighborhoods. Powerful, powerful stuff. Everyone should read this book.

Nice collection, very quick read. Far from my favorite Button release. Likely worth a return to at a later, less tired day.

This collection was powerful and deep rooted in Black culture. The metaphors, imagery, and creativity of the pieces were inspiring and moving.
I am excited to read Marshall’s newest collection, Finna.

Marshall's bombastic and powerful poetry packs a freakin' punch. At every page turn there is a new way to be deeply moved and fall in love with these poems. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I finished it and cried on the bus. Marshall particularly excels in this work at capturing undeniably high school moments. Times of great uncertainty but being certain that something is the right thing to do. It is short and dope and everyone should read it.
