I am absolutely obsessed with this book as well. I genuinely think this one was better than the first one. The connection between all of the characters and the protectiveness that the Hawthorne brothers have for Avery is just so amazinf to read about and made me giddy throughout the entire book. Jennifer Lynn Barnes knows how to perfectly pace a mystery too. I never felt like the discoveries were rushed. but I also never was like wow this is moving way too slowly. It was just the right speed and I never find too many plot holes with her books. The ending was absolutely gut-wrenching and even though it is not really a sad book at all, I found myself tearing up at the end. We were really able to see so many news sides to the characters in this book and that gives the reader a whole different appreciation for the characters that we once entirely saw as villains.
