I really enjoyed this, will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

What do you know? This cover pulled me in and bam, Newman is now one of my favourite authors.

The Vagrant is a masterclass. According to me, it is. Our main hero, a knight, the Vagrant with a singing sword on his journey with an infant fighting evil and without a voice. Yes, that. He is mute!

So can you imagine how gripping the prose is when there are very very few conversations with secondary characters? This book hooked me in from the first chapter and never really let me go.

Very different.

I read this because I hardcore binged The Mandalorian and wanted something like it. I was told this had similar vibes, characters, etc. and for the most part it was spot on :)

One of the best and most unique things from the book is that the MC is mute. He doesn't talk at all in the book. It was so interesting. Also the baby and goat. that is all I can say. *chefs kiss*

It was a little hard to understand for me here and there but also I was listening the audiobook so it might just be I didn't pay attention as much as I should have. Definitely recommend if you like The Mandalorian, space westerns, etc.

This seemed like a really cool fantasy book with a cool cover and premise, but it was very confusing and all over the place. Didn't have it in me to keep going.

3.5

Got to 35% and I was still bored and frustrated with the writing and lack lustre descriptive style of this.

I can't believe I'm saying this bc I'm a hater unless it's Hadrian, Darrow, Kinch, or Croacker, but I wish this was in 1st person.

One-dimensional and one-note.
