Fantastic narrative; you can tell the author works on film and educational TV the way things are structured. Lots of nerdy anthropological detail and also plenty of laymen’s exposition for readers of all skill levels.

I do wish some of the sections were more solid in their timelines/had clearer implications for the overarching throughline of the book as a whole; I feel like the author meant to go back and edit things and round things out, especially the later chapters, but didn’t as Covid had interrupted the study the book was based on. Which I understand, but it did feel unfinished in places, (larger impact of discovery not discussed in terms of earlier chapters, explanations repeated twice or given late into a discussion in some places, etc.)even with an epilogue.

But I’m being incredibly nit picky. This is a fantastic science book in laymen’s terms written as up to date as possible and relatively recently. That’s like finding a needle in a haystack! If there are comparable paleontology books I would like to be told Immediately.
