This book was so gripping and exciting! I loved it just as much as the first book. It was so fun and unique, amazing world building and character development! The plot was so entertaining and when I wasn’t reading, all I could think about was how much time I had left until I could go and read more of this book 😍

These Main characters are so special to me, and I love them so so much! Diem is such a brilliant, badass, intelligent and strong FMC and I adore her so much! Luther is just green flags left, right, and centre (and totally swoon worthy) and I’m obsessed with him!

The ending had me GASPING and I need to read the next book asap! 🫣😭

Okay Diem is definitely Descended but a weird kind that it seem no one knows about? Or that's how it is looking to be. Also i fucking called it on half Descendeds being stronger than full blooded. Fucking called it.

I also can't believe that Diems mother fucking did everything that she has. Especially knowing that her daughter is part Descended or something of the like.

It also makes so much more sense that Luther is adament about saving all the half children because he himself is one. I really didn't see that coming. That was one hell of a surprise.

Also fuck Henri. He's horrible and I hate him. He's barely been there for his betrothed in her biggest time of need and any reason he can state is fucking stupid and I just can't wait until he either is killed or crushed when Diem finally is able to call it off with him. I just hope her stupid fucking mother didn't get her killed with all the Guardian antics.

Also thank fucking God Diem pulled her head out of her ass and chose Luther. I have been over here just hanging onto the edge of my seat with every interaction that they have just waiting for the next time to finally happen between them. We have been sooo close a couple of times but nothing yet. I feel I may be a puddle if nothing happens in the next book.

Also I really need to get some fucking answers in regard to Diems mother. And who her father is. Especially since he apparently is still alive. Also need to know who killed her father as well cause that was a dick move. And I swear to god is it was the guardians I'm going to leep into the book and kill Henri cause I just know if it was he had something to do with it. I also vote for whoever did it to be killed by Sorea. I think that would a fitting death.

Also I just love how much all the cousins closest to Luther and become a second family for Diem and Teller. I can't wait to see what chaos they continue to cause.

So much fucking happened and i just cant figure out what to do next whether to lay here and contemplate what I just read or to jump into the next book. All I know is that I need the fourth book like yesterday so that I can read it as soon as I am done with book 3. Why do I start series before I have all the books? I hate buying things in multiple formats but I may just have to make an exception in this case.

I enjoyed this book but not nearly as much as Spark. It felt really slow because there was a lot of political intrigue and soul-searching for Diem, and her internal anguish (while justified) got old. Henri also drove me crazy. And Luther’s weird behavior prior to the challenge didn’t seem to fit his character. But the emotions and anguish and stakes were all really understandable, even if Diem drove me a little crazy in this book. That ending was wild and I want to read Heat asap,  but I also want to wait until I know when Burn is coming so I don’t have to wait indefinitely.

i truly cannot say enough amazing things about this book and series. you need to read it now if you haven’t already! yesterday, even! everything about this book is a hell mf yes! 🙌🏽

this series has left me speechless each time. i absolutely adored this book. it keeps you on your toes 24/7. i was literally on the edge of my seat with each turn of the page! i even found myself screaming and yelling out loud at some parts. that’s how you know it’s good!

my one and only complaint is that the fmc makes truly terrible decisions about 100% of the time… i’m not even being a little bit dramatic. however, the plot of this book makes up for it ten-fold.

i love the cliffhangers and i truly cannot wait to get my hands on the third book of this series. shit is getting INTENSE!!

love love love love. 🖤 somehow, i feel that this series will easily be in my top reads of the year and it’s only january.

Predictable but I love it 👨‍🦯🙈💁‍♀️
I get not wanting to let go of someone but jesus fucking christ, how many times does Henri have to be a piece of shit?
Also Luther betraying her would definitely make the series more interesting but I'm glad he didn't.
The incest twins was a,,,, unique touch
The ending was not a surprise at all. The moment Henri mentioned the leader of the Guardians in the first book I assumed it was Lorelai considering she was both gone AND one of few characters we had met at that point that would cause an appropriate amount of shock value. Henri needs to be murdered. Preferably by Diem. Amen.

Glow of the Everflame takes the world Penn Cole established in Spark and expands it even more. This felt more like the plot-heavy fantasy I was promised, and it was absolutely addictive to read.

I read this book in 24 hours. It definitely keeps moving, even if some of that movement is around in circles. There were multiple times I put the book down due to frustration or anxious anticipation, but I always picked it back up ready to see what happened next.

There were probably two things that kept this from being a five star read for me. One was Diem, the POV character. I realize this is an intentional choice, but she was so frustrating to read.  Sometimes I wanted to smack her upside the head and make her actually think through her actions and the actions of the people around her.

The other thing I think held this book back from being for me how much information was given to me in a way where it felt like Diem also should have known it. I love guessing plot twists, but when other characters in the book have also guessed the twist and are trying to tell Diem, and she won’t listen to them, that was frustrating to me. It felt obvious instead of earned, and I want to earn it damn it!

That being said, I will definitely be continuing with this series! Here’s hoping we get a release date for book four soon, because Heat of the Everflame is high up on my TBR.

Thank you to Atria and NetGalley, for the ARC and the opportunity to leave an honest, voluntary review.
