4.5 stars. Both the writing and the action are better than in the first book of the series, making this a near-perfect children's book.

I believe the back cover gave the age range as 5-9 years. I thought it was entertaining and there were surprises. I've never heard of a Lightning Ghost and I sure don't ever want to see one.

I enjoyed the characters and I felt there wasn't much development of them. The focus was on the ghosthunting. The ASG, a good ghost, was sort of strange. I'm not sure why they put up with him. He does want to help and he likes scary folks. This is set in a hotel by the sea. Some of the guests are turned into fire ghost.

I thought this was imaginative and entertaining. I didn't think this was gothic, this was about ghost. It wasn't really creepy, but there was some scary in this. I like these new ghosts. I thought this was a fun little series and I will probably read some more in it. I think Cornelia Funke is a talented author.

From Gabe: it was good. It was good in all of the parts. (4 stars then, I suppose?)
